If you are passionate about finding sustainable and eco-friendly travel products like we are, then you are in the right place. This list is game changing in terms of responsible and eco-travel!
Does packing your travel bag get your blood pumping? Do you value eco-friendly travel products and gear that bring a strong environmental and ethical ethos to the table? And most importantly, do you love brands who are transparent about the production of the items they make? Yep so do we!
I have put a great deal of time into researching travel products that not only tick all the boxes from an eco-friendly perspective, but also that are great value for money. And of course extremely practical in terms of travel.
Below we review some fantastic eco-friendly products that make travel life easier but also greener!

Millican Backpack
This backpack is the creme de la creme in my opinion. You’ll love it because it looks super cool, there are plenty of colours to choose from and it is made for day tripping and travellers. But most of all you’ll love it because it is 100% made from post consumer recycled waste. That is correct my friend!!!
Each ruck sack is super light, hard wearing and has been made by travellers for travellers.
This awesome bag is begging to become your next travel buddy right? Totally guilt free, in fact you might even say it would be an injustice not to get one. Supporting companies that are reusing environmental waste are heroes and need to be supported if you ask me.
The Millican Marsden roll-down pack has a five star rating on Amazon and is a favourite in the photographer community. It is definitely one of my favourite eco-friendly travel products on the market. Alternatively the 25L Millican Fraser Rucksack makes for a sturdy smaller and considerably cheaper option. Great for a grab and go type pack.
LifeStraw Water Bottle
Another favourite (you’ll find there is a theme here). The Life Straw will become your go to water filtering travel bottle. And I’ll tell you why…
We found that wherever we went in the world, access to water was different for each country… naturally. Sometimes you can drink from the tap, sometimes you can’t. In some cities you will find water filling stations and in others you can’t. In some countries it is safe to have ice in your drink and in others you can’t. You catch my drift.
The one thing that remains the same wherever you travel is that you need to drink water throughout the day. And that makes avoiding the purchase of water in single use plastic bottles very difficult. Enter LifeStraw!
The LifeStraw has a number of products to choose from. We have a filtering 5 Litre bag, which we love for camping trips and the likes. But for a handy little 22oz filtering travel bottle look no further than the Go Water Filter Bottle. The two stage ‘straw’ or filter removes bacteria and parasites (including E coli), chemicals such as chlorine and microplastics. It improves water taste and clarity and you can filter any water, any time, any where.
It just makes total sense for travel… click the bottle below to read more about this little beaut.
Indosole Flip Flops
You will LOVE these sustainable bad boys! Flip flops, slippers, jandals or thongs, whatever you call them, do your feet, and the planet a favour and pick up a pair of these for your next beach holiday.
The vegan Indosole flip flops are made with repurposed waste tyres and they are well-known for their comfort. This is because they have a unique arch support making them better than a normal pair of cheap ‘ol flip flops.
By purchasing a pair, you are supported a company with a mission to reduce tyre waste from ending in landfill or burning. And equally as cool is their support and social responsibility towards Balinese community and fair trade. They get our vote for ethical and sustainable flip flops, and I hope they get yours too.

Nanopresso Portable Coffee Maker
Avoid using un-recyclable coffee pods on vacation and grab yourself this coffee making legend! We purchased ours two years ago for our full-time travel adventures and it is still going strong.
It works exactly like any coffee pod machine does. The only difference is that you prepare the coffee into the reusable ‘pod’ yourself and hand pump the coffee through. It even makes the little pop sound as the water pressure has built up and fires through the pod. You’ll love it!
As long as you’re buying good quality coffee to put through your Nanopresso, the taste is amazing… if not better than from a store bought coffee machine.
We have this compact little Nanopresso Espresso 18 Bar Pressure Maker right here, and at the same time got the Barista Kit which allows you to make double shots. For the lungo coffee lover like myself.
If you want to see how it works then go to our Nanopresso review complete with demonstration.
House of Marley Rebel Earbuds
How cool are these little babies. If you haven’t heard of House of Marley yet, then it is time you get acquainted. This brand is concerned not only with quality sound but also more recently in producing a sustainable product.
These House of Marley Rebel earbuds are made from sustainably sourced bamboo and the charging case from recycled plastic. What’s even better is the fact that House of Marley give back through their reforestation program.
In terms of sound, they come with features such as touch control, bass boost, noise cancellation and they are sweat proof so perfect if you are heading to a warmer climate. Or maybe a workout, but lets be honest, it’s a vacation so a run probably isn’t high on your to-do list.
Anyway give these awesome earbuds a try and you won’t regret it!
Green People Sunscreen
Sunscreen is such a key player on the environmental front right. Supermarket brands of suntan lotion don’t offer many genuine promises on the environmental front. Green People sunscreen on the other hand is reef safe, organic, cruelty free, scent free and should be on everyone’s beach vacation shopping list.
This 100ml 30 SPF sunscreen is the perfect travel size. Or if you are travelling with littles then we recommend a slightly bigger tube of 150ml 25 SPF children’s sunscreen.
ChicoBags
You’ll never again get stuck leaving the supermarket with an armful of items if you add these bad boys to your shopping cart!
ChicoBags became a fixture in my handbag last year and have been there ever since. The bags are 100% made from recycled materials. While the company mission is for a more sustainable future through goals towards zero waste, being carbon neutral, fair labour and so much more. I love this company and all that they are aiming to achieve.
Go show them some support and get a bundle of their amazing Chicobags for YOUR handbag.
Bambaw Razor
I’m a huge fan of the Bambaw products and also their story. Two brothers worried about the amount of plastic waste they came across through their travels and decided to do something about it. Their aims for a positive environmental impact through the use of bamboo and reusable products is inspiring!
Try this cute rose gold safety razor. The blades are replaceable and easy to order online.
Lunette Cup
Ladies this one is for you, and you can thank me later. I made the change to these Lunette cups last year. I love the fact that they use less of my precious baggage space compared to pads or tampons, they are so much cheaper in the long run AND the reduced waste factor!
Of course I have to mention that it takes a few cycles to get used to them, but once you do they are life changing. You can leave your cup in for up to 12 hours and that makes travel life so much easier!
Nuud Deodorant
Look no further than this awesome travel pack of Nuud Deodorant for those summer sweaty pits. This is one of the best aluminum free options of deodorant out there. I have met many travellers now who sing praises for this little tube. (Yes this is the kind of conversation I have with others I meet on the road!)
Ethique Shampoo Bars
Okay I can’t give these shampoo bars enough love. They were game changing for our toiletries travel list. They are ideal in terms of space saving in our bags, but the best thing about them is their environmental value.
Ethique shampoo and conditioning bars come in compostable boxes so no more plastic bottles. And the bars are free from the nasties… no palm oil, aluminum, silicone, parabens and so on. What’s more, you’ll love the fact that one shampoo bar lasts for ages! They say one shampoo bar is the equivalent of three bottles of shampoo.
For normal hair try this Mintasy shampoo bar. But click the link and there are other options to browse through as well. My daughter has curly hair and she loves the Frizz Wrangler.
Reusable Straws
Avoid unnecessary plastic straws with these cute rose gold reusable straws complete with little travel bag and brush cleaner. I’ve got to say, I still cringe at beach side bars who continue to use plastic straws. And it then breaks my heart the following day as I see straws floating at the water’s edge. We can be part of the solution, and carry our own. Order your family a travel set of straws today!
Bamboo Tooth Brush
Imagine how many plastic toothbrushes end up in landfill each year. Perhaps you have considered a bamboo tooth brush as a greener alternative?
Well the good news is that bamboo tooth brushes compost back into the earth in six months. You can compost them at home, or dispose of them in community composting sites. Check out platforms such as MakeSoil to learn more about how to do that.
In the meantime, make the switch to a bamboo toothbrush and reduce home AND travel waste.
Ecozone Soap Nuts
Put these 100% natural nuts into your laundry instead of harsh laundry soaps… yes they actually clean your clothes! Okay wait… hear me out before you run.
This bag will take 330 washes, and so you can also have them at home ready for a wash or two. But throw a few in for your upcoming travels and you’ll not need to use the dreaded washing powder in your Airbnb.
Soap nuts are also ideal if you are travelling for a longer period of time and you need to do a quick bucket wash to freshen up your clothes.
Para’kito Mosquito Repellent Bracelets
These mosquito repellent bracelets from Para’kito are a no-brainer, if you make a great feast for the mosquitoes each time they are out in force.
Avoid the terrible single use plastic mosquito bracelets that you get from the supermarket and pick up some of these instead. They are deet free and totally reusable as each bracelet has a small replaceable capsule. What’s more, they are waterproof and each capsule lasts 15 days.
And there we have it… our current favourite sustainable and eco-friendly travel products for 2022. Feel free to drop me a message if you have questions about any of the above recommendations.
